Chris Raybould started martial arts when he was 14 years old with Karate. He became interested in the training methods & philosophy of Bruce Lee, and discovered WingChun was one of the foundation arts that Bruce had learned. Coming across a local club, Chris started his Wing Chun training in 1997. Chris also took up the Philipino weapons system known as Escrima., which was taught in tandem with Wing Chun at that time.
Chris started in the Leung Ting lineage, where he studied for 5 years and then moved on to the Ip Chun meothod. Ip Chun is the eldest son of the renowned Wing Chun master Ip Man. Chris has had the pleasure of meeting and training with Ip Chun at seminars in the UK as well as training trips to Hong Kong.
Looking to develop his knowledge and undertsanding of Wing Chun further, Chris began training in the Chu Shong Tin method in 2019. Chu Shong Tin was Ip Man's 3rd student in Hong Kong and acheieved the highest levels of skill.
Chris believes that Wing Chun is a way of self-exploration and development, as well as a method of self-defence. Wing Chun has helped him change for the better and sees teaching as a way of giving the same opportunity to others.
Sifu Chris Raybould holds a level 2 BCCMA Coaching qualification.
