Chris Raybould started martial arts when he was 14 years old in Shotokan and then Wado Ryu Karate. Interested in the training methods & philosophy of Bruce Lee, Chris was keen to practice Wing Chun and found a local club, where he started training in 1996. Chris also took up the Philipino weapons system known as Escrima., which was taught in tandem with Wing Chun at that time.
During his 6 years with this group, Chris had the opportunity to meet and train Wing Chun with Grandmaster Leung Ting, Keith Kernspecht & Emin Boztepe as well as Masters Rene Latosa, Bill Newman and Steve Tappin in Escrima.
In October 2001 Chris started training with Sifu Shaun Rawcliffe at his Hall Green headquarters in Birmingham. Chris found Sifu Rawcliffe's skills so exceptional that he was shocked at how his own Wing Chun skill was lacking in many areas.
Chris has attended many seminars in the UK,, having the opportuniy to train with Wing Chun teachers such as GM Ip Chun, Duncan Leung and Patrick Leung. He has also attended several chi sao gatherings where he has trained with several of GM Ip Chun's UK based students.
In 2007 and 2010 Chris travelled to Hong Kong where he had the opportunity to train with Sifu Rawcliffe's teacher; Master Ip Chun, as well as several of Ip Chun's most senior students such as Leung Wai, Ho Kay & Yim TK.
In 2010 Chris set up the SWCK with his Sifu's blessing and is proud to have the opportunity to spread the art to others in the same honest and open manner that he is taught.
Sifu Chris Raybould holds a level 2 BCCMA Coaching qualification in addition to his MWCK Instructors qualification
